“Christmas is a season not only of rejoicing but of reflection.” – Winston Churchill

This truly is the most wonderful time of the year, isn’t it? As a business owner, the joy of the holiday season is something I hold dear despite some mixed feelings. You see, it’s the end of the year and while I’m grateful for the festive time spent with family, I am also thinking about Roofing & More’s

past in 2014

and its future in 2015.

Did we meet or exceed the bottom line? Did we hit all of our efficiency targets? Did we give back to the community as much as planned? How should my leadership team and I reorient our goals and strategies next year?

That is just a snippet of what runs through my head, along with classic Christmas carols and my family’s wish lists. I’m sure it sounds familiar to some of you as well – that little voice in the back of your mind that says you can always be striving for more – which is true. But the reality is that we all must put our main focus on what’s important: faith, family and personal development. A few questions I should be asking include:

Did I spend enough quality, undistracted time with my wife, kids and grandkids this year? How much time did I spend in quiet self-reflection? What have I learned about myself? How can I improve?

It’s also important to remember that no matter how hard we strive for perfection, we are only human. I’m going to focus on taking time this season to unplug and sincerely enjoy the magic and redemption that Christmas brings. I hope you will as well.

Merry Christmas!
