According to the US Fire Administration, about 3,400 Americans die in fires and about 17,500 are injured every year. To make matters worse, an overwhelming majority of such incidents start from residential areas. Recently, a fire began in an apartment complex, in this report from Wusa9:

Firefighters responded to a townhouse fire in Lake Ridge early Sunday morning.

Occoquan-Woodbridge-Lorton Volunteer Fire Department said the fire happened at 12377 Manchester Way in Lake Ridge around 1:37 a.m.

Crews said there was heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof of the townhouse.

Fire crews said there was fire coming from the second floor and the attic areas. Crews were able to get the fire under control within about 20 minutes, according to authorities.

The fire is being investigated by the Prince William County Fire Marshal's Office, authorities said.

Fortunately, no one was hurt on that occurrence. Whether it was caused by faulty wiring or kitchen fire, extinguishing immediately before it becomes a serious problem is vital to save lives and property.
